Crock Pot Hot Wings

JT  44 Comments

FacebookTweetPinLinkedInSMS

I had a request on the page last week for some Paleo hot wings which in itself isn’t that difficult of a task but given my overly busy lifestyle of course I had to do it in a crock pot.  You can always do these in a baking dish in an oven at 350 until done if you so choose, just use about half the water.  Well here is the simplest of recipes I could come up with, you can spice up however you like.  I added some cayenne to mine to kick up the spice, hope you Enjoy :)

Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 6 hours hrs
Total Time 6 hours hrs 5 minutes mins
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 12 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup grass fed butter you can use coconut oil instead
  • 3/4 cup franks red hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine your butter, franks, and water in a mixing bowl and stir well.
  • Line the bottom of your crock pot with your drumsticks, or wing, or thighs.
  • Pepper your chicken to your taste liking
  • Take your sauce mixture and poor it over all of your chicken
  • Cover and cook on low for 6 hours
  • Once done, remove chicken and place on a baking sheet
  • Pour your sauce in a sauce pan, add 2 cloves of garlic and reduce down by about half
  • Use this sauce to baste your wings and then broil in the oven on high for 3-5 minutes to get crispy
  • Enjoy

Came back to it today, after a couple of years (at least)… going to do it again and again!
Made it that much faster by putting the drumsticks in the Instant Pot… !

A man after my own heart…Frank’s Original Red Hot sauce! Oh my! My husband has been finicky with chicken legs, so challenge accepted. Let’s do this. ;)

Tried this recipe last week after purchasing your cookbook on the App Store. Delicious recipe and the meat was coming off the bone it was so tender.

For me the wings weren’t spicy enough. Next time I’ll add a couple of diced jalapeños into the mix to kick it up a notch.

I paired it with the cilantro lime slaw also in the book. Great stuff!

Quick question…if I’m using Franks Red Hot Buffalo sauce should I omit the butter and water? Thanks!

Loved this recipe–great combination of fall-off-the-bone tender and crispy on the outside. Another one to keep in the rotation–thanks!

I don’t use it nearly enough, but I have to justify spending $400 somehow. I’ve been making chicken wings with Franks Red hot for a while, although I don’t add water. I’ll try it out and see what’ it’s like.

I too cannot afford the $400 for the sous vide supreme. A little research turned this up.
