I had a request on the page last week for some Paleo hot wings which in itself isn’t that difficult of a task but given my overly busy lifestyle of course I had to do it in a crock pot. You can always do these in a baking dish in an oven at 350 until done if you so choose, just use about half the water. Well here is the simplest of recipes I could come up with, you can spice up however you like. I added some cayenne to mine to kick up the spice, hope you Enjoy :)
Crock Pot Hot Wings
- 12 chicken drumsticks
- 1/2 cup grass fed butter you can use coconut oil instead
- 3/4 cup franks red hot sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- black pepper
- Combine your butter, franks, and water in a mixing bowl and stir well.
- Line the bottom of your crock pot with your drumsticks, or wing, or thighs.
- Pepper your chicken to your taste liking
- Take your sauce mixture and poor it over all of your chicken
- Cover and cook on low for 6 hours
- Once done, remove chicken and place on a baking sheet
- Pour your sauce in a sauce pan, add 2 cloves of garlic and reduce down by about half
- Use this sauce to baste your wings and then broil in the oven on high for 3-5 minutes to get crispy

Came back to it today, after a couple of years (at least)… going to do it again and again!
Made it that much faster by putting the drumsticks in the Instant Pot… !
fast and tasty!
This recipe has become a staple in my household over the last few years. Many thanks!
You are so welcome, it is one of my favorites as well.
A man after my own heart…Frank’s Original Red Hot sauce! Oh my! My husband has been finicky with chicken legs, so challenge accepted. Let’s do this. ;)
Tried this recipe last week after purchasing your cookbook on the App Store. Delicious recipe and the meat was coming off the bone it was so tender.
For me the wings weren’t spicy enough. Next time I’ll add a couple of diced jalapeños into the mix to kick it up a notch.
I paired it with the cilantro lime slaw also in the book. Great stuff!
Quick question…if I’m using Franks Red Hot Buffalo sauce should I omit the butter and water? Thanks!
I don’t know because I haven’t used it
Omg! So good. Ate 5 whole wings myself!!!! Thank you!
Woohoo Shannon, that sounds professional :)
My first ever attempt at making hot wings, and these are by far the best hot wings I’ve ever eaten. Thank you so much! Damn, wish I’d made a double batch!
You are so welcome :)
We make these at least 1-2 times per month now, just so you know. Excellent recipe!
Oh awesome. So good to know :) so glad you enjoy
Had these wings tonight – fantastic! So smile, so delicious. Better than any pub wings I’ve had. Well done!
Awesome so glad you enjoyed
Loved this recipe–great combination of fall-off-the-bone tender and crispy on the outside. Another one to keep in the rotation–thanks!
Woohoo thank you
Thank you soo much for this recipe!
LOVE LOVE LOVE
You are most welcome, thanks for stopping by to tell me :) So glad you enjoyed :)
I’m going to try these using my Sous vide supreme.
Well first off I am super jealous you have a sous vide supreme, so when you are done cooking them, and they are amazing, I will give you my address. K thanks, bye
I don’t use it nearly enough, but I have to justify spending $400 somehow. I’ve been making chicken wings with Franks Red hot for a while, although I don’t add water. I’ll try it out and see what’ it’s like.
I too cannot afford the $400 for the sous vide supreme. A little research turned this up.
Just wanted to let you know that I made these this morning (with Sriracha), and they were fabulous! Paired with some crisp celery, they really hit the spot.
Yippee so glad you enjoyed them :)
Awesome, thanks for stopping by and telling me Lindsay and Shane :)
By far my favorite recipe of yours that I've tried (second is your bbq sauce)! Amaaaazing. Keep it up, we can't get enough! ~Lindsay & Shane
I love it Amy, hope you enjoy :)
Mine are in the crock as I type. I'm at work and all I can think about is the wingy goodness going on at home!
Thats what I like to hear
Made these tonight, there were amazing. Hit the spot. Thanks, Mike & Melissa
I am so glad you love them, I am overdue for a pressure cooker
My daughter just asked me to make buffalo wings. Used this recipe but put them in the pressure cooker for 10 minutes then under the broiler. Fall off the bone amazing!!
Making these today!!!
You read my mind, next on my list to make. -Melissa
