Wow what an amazing weekend it was with amazing people at the 2012 Ancestral Health Symposium. There were tons of Smmaaahhhttt people running around Boston and dropping knowledge bombs throughout the conference that I was trying to understand. There were also tons of chocolate vendors. Chocolate vendors = Chocolate trouble for George because I continued to justify individual bites completely aware I was probably eating a full bar or two a day, OOOPS. But it was my vacation and that only happens NEVER. But to say the least I am starting my 21 Day Sugar Detox today because my body needs it, BAD. And honestly, I would love some company to join me, to post on my Facebook wall and share their meals, to tell their friends to come join our amazing food choices, so if thats you, please blow me up. If your interested, just click on the picture below and start reading, then send your friends here so they can join.
And now for the recipe you should make today, to treat yourself and eat before you start your 21 Day Sugar Detox tomorrow, because this one definitely doesn’t fall in the category of that program. I hope you enjoy.
Chocolate Chili Pineapple
Ingredients
- 1 whole pineapple or 1 can of pineapple slices
- 1/2 cup enjoy life chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- chili powder to taste
- crushed macadamia nuts
Instructions
- If using fresh pineapple, core the pineapple and cut the pineapple into rings like you would find in a can
- Lay half of your pineapple rings on a parchment paper lined baking sheet
- Place a popsicle stick in the center of each pineapple ring and then place the remaining pineapple rings on top of the sticks, making a sandwich with the stick in the middle
- Freeze your pineapple popsicles
- When ready to make, melt your chocolate and coconut oil over a double boiler
- Dip your pineapple popsicles in the chocolate and then dip in the macadamia nuts and set back on your baking sheet
- Do this for all remaining pineapples
- Sprinkle them all with chili powder and keep frozen until ready to serve

I just have to say that I am LOVING your site!!! I am allergic to “bad carbs”, they cause inflammation in my body! And these recipes are AWESOME!!! Making the Bison Stew tom, but wasn’t able to get bison this time, had to go with cow! : ( As for THIS RECIPE!!! I’M SOOOOOO JEALOUS….AND DROOLING!!!!!!! I found out in Feb that I’m allergic to pineapple as well, and MISS IT DEARLY!!!!…Matter of fact, my drool has just turned into the burning my mouth feels when I eat it, just from thinking about it! lol!!!!! I have already passed your site on to other friends with the same allergies! THANKS SOOO MUCH!!!! : )

I don’t count or track nutrition. The chocolate used is enjoy life chocolate chips which are grain free, dairy free, gluten free and soy free. They are not milk chocolate. I use them occasionally as my treat

OMG, let me wipe up my drool so I can type. LOL This looks marvelous! Pineapple has always been just about my favorite fruit, and here you take it to a whole new level. I’m sitting here thinking my fav way to have pineapple, grilled outside, would also be an interesting twist on your delicacy. Thanks so much for posting this over on Chowstalker where it caught my eye. I really look forward to trying this!

I wish macadamia nuts were easier to find and if I do find them they are so expensive.

Good luck with your detox! Can you let me know if you find it has an impact on your sleep habits at all? I keep a blog about sleep, and one thing I tell people is to cut down on sugar before going to sleep. So I’d be curious to know if this 21 day sugar detox you’re doing makes any difference to your sleep habits.
Great blog as well!
