In the Fall of 2012 I received a phone call from my younger brother.
Answering the phone, I could tell right away that something was terribly wrong. He proceeded to tell me he had prostate cancer.
This was devastating news to find out my brother and best friend had cancer. After a yearlong battle, I’m happy to report he beat it and is now cancer free! However, during his fight with cancer, he gained extra pounds and got out of shape. I too was not in particularly great shape either. As competitive brothers do, we made a bet…we made a bet to see who could lose the most body fat percentage in 3 months.
In fact, he got so cocky that he even spotted me 1%.
Oh, it was on!
I tried to “watch” what I ate over the next couple of weeks, exercised a bit, and I did ok. But then I had to work out of town with a co-worker for a full week. On the first night, we went to dinner and I told my coworker about the bet with my brother. My coworker immediately told me that I should try Paleo as it had helped him tremendously with his health and weight management.
Paleo, When Eating Out?
Paleo??? I asked…What in the world is Paleo?? After proceeding to tell me what Paleo was and its benefits, I said, “I will copy everything you eat for this week, and we will see how this thing goes!”
The waiter gets to our table, my coworker orders the salmon, tells the waiter no mashed potatoes and to double up on the vegetables. No mashed potatoes? I thought. You mean no mashed potatoes with the double melted cheese? To add insult to injury, he told the bread guy as he came up to us….”no thanks!”
Dinner ended with the fruit bowl for desert and not the molten lava double chocolate cake that I wanted, but I survived my first Paleo meal!
Can anyone else relate to what I’m talking about with your first Paleo experience?
Well, guess what? At the end of the week, I was already down 5 pounds!
I then went and bought my first Paleo book, “The Paleo Diet for Athletes” by Loren Cordain and Joe Fiel. I loved what the book taught and I soon adopted the lifestyle. It made so much sense! I lost a total of 30 pounds, gained more strength and energy, and even got off my stomach medication. You can say that I was born again in a physical sense.
Paleo & Travel
Traveling and entertaining clients is part of my job. Vodka was always my go-to drink, but now that I was Paleo, it was frustrating to see that the vast majority of Vodka on the shelf was produced from some form of grains, whether it be corn or barley or is potato based.
Out of my own personal need and desire, I wanted to create a great tasting Vodka made from Paleo friendly ingredients.
My vision was a Vodka distilled from not only California grapes but also made with 100% pure Sierra Alpine water, ensuring a smooth and full finish that is crisp and clean.
That is how Caveman Vodka was born right here in the USA! We proudly launched Caveman Vodka at Paleo f(x) in 2019.
Caveman Vodka represents the Spirit of Paleo for those that work hard and have fun.
Or, as I like to say, for “Paleo People who Love to Party”!
PS: Yes, I won the bet with my brother! Love you Bro!

About Caveman Vodka
Caveman Vodka is a new brand that is dedicated to producing high-quality vodka for anyone who practices the paleo lifestyle.
I first discovered the benefits of the paleo diet after my brother developed prostate cancer.
This shocking and unexpected news reminded my whole family to make the most of our lives. Fortunately, my brother underwent treatment and is now cancer-free, but the ordeal caused him to gain unwanted weight. In the spirit of friendly competition, we set out to see who could lose the highest percentage of body fat in three months.
I tried the paleo diet at the recommendation of a coworker and lost five pounds in just one week.
I read “The Paleo Diet for Athletes” by Loren Cordain and Joe Fiel and was soon living the paleo lifestyle full time. Shortly there after, another 25 pounds was dropped, and I gained strength and energy. I felt great!
