Beasty Country Style Pork Ribs

JT  12 Comments

I wanted some pork but I didn’t want to do a typical rack of ribs, instead I picked up some country style pork ribs.  No problem if you don’t have a smoker or grill, you can do these in the oven and get a delicious result. If you don’t like my Beasty BBQ Sauce you can substitute your favorite or make your own up for this recipe. I hope you Enjoy :)

Total Time 3 hours hrs 10 minutes mins
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 4 country style pork ribs
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 6 cloves of garlic minced
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cups of Beasty BBQ Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 250 degrees fahrenheit
  • Arrange your pork ribs in the bottom of your roasting pan
  • Salt your ribs, then spread your garlic over them and top with your lemon slices
  • Put your liquid smoke in the bottom of your baking dish
  • Place in your preheated oven and bake for 2 hours
  • The ribs should be nice and tender now, remove from the oven, drain off all excess liquid and fat and discard the lemons
  • Pour your Beasty BBQ Sauce over the top of all your ribs and return to the oven for another 30-60 minutes
  • Optional: Finish on the grill to crisp up the sauce
  • Enjoy

These are in the oven now, but I’m nervous…should they be cooked uncovered for the 2 hours and the additional 30-60 minutes?

The easy way to test is make sure a thermometer reads 160 degrees

Hi there – I’m going to try these tonight. Just curious what the lemon slices do. I actually bought a bag of lemons yesterday, so have them on hand! Thanks for the recipe! :)

So, I made these tonight and they were awesome. I had every intention of making the sauce, I got sidetracked on Facebook and then the kids were hungry. I scrambled to get to the sauce recipe and realized that I should have been simmering that sauce for the hour I spent on FB. Fail. But, everyone loved them sans sauce.

Next time, I will not be a slacker. :) Thanks for the recipe.

Hi George! Question – I'm new to the ways of cooking meat not using a crockpot. If I wanted to cook these partially in the oven and then bring them somewhere and finish them on a grill… would you say just do them on the grill for that last stretch, after discarding the lemons? What do you think?
