Method
Stovetop
- Preheat a dutch oven or large stock pot over medium heat
- Add in a cooking fat of your choice, like always we used 3 tablespoons of bacon fat
- Add in your onions and sweat them for about 10 minutes or until translucent
- Add in your peppers and zucchini and sauté for another 5 minutes
- Stir in your ground elk meat and all the spices and mix well, stir every minute or so for 7-9 minutes until your elk is cooked
- Add your tomato sauce, fire-roasted tomatoes, and cinnamon stick and stir well
- Reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for at least 45 minutes
- Serve hot and enjoy
Crockpot
- Combine all the above ingredients in your crock pot and mix well
- Turn on low and let cook for 8 hours
- Serve and enjoy
